WASHINGTON — A comeback attempt for the Sabres ended in the third period Saturday night when Dylan Strome scored the go-ahead goal for the Capitals inside Capital One Arena.

The Sabres (11-15-4) are 0-6-3 in their last nine games, while the Capitals (21-6-2) improved to 8-2-1 without injured star Alex Ovechkin.
