This Sunday, Stade Toulouse took a stroll on the pitch of the Exeter Chiefs (21-64). In this meeting, Pierre-Louis Barassi hurt the English very badly, just like Matthis Lebel and Antoine Dupont.
Detailed notes
Pierre-Louis Barassi: 9/10
The international center is in great shape. In Canes, he never stopped setting fire to the English defense in the center of the field. In the 29th minute, it was he who pierced the opposing defensive curtain to offer himself a fifty-meter run before serving Matthis Lebel, who finished in the goal. Barassi was rewarded for his excellent performance with a try under the posts just before half-time. The former Lyon player did not stop there since in the 50th minute, he scored twice. Shortly after the hour mark, number 13 let the ball escape. A small mistake easily forgotten after such a performance.
Antoine Dupont : 8,5/10
Rugby seems so easy when it's played by this man. Yes, it seems like we're repeating ourselves every weekend, but Antoine Dupont was once again monumental on the Exeter pitch. In the 9th minute, after standing out in defense with a significant scratch, “Toto” concluded the first Haut-Garonne offensive to score his 25th try in 49 Champions Cup matches. What’s next? A great ride for the captain of the XV of France. After being the author of four assists against Ulster last week, Dupont did it again in England with two offerings for Flament (35') and Barassi (40'). Coming out on the hour mark, the Olympic champion was once again the author of a remarkable match, while giving the impression of managing. Strong. Much too strong.
Matthis Lebel : 8/10
Just like Barassi, the red and black winger will have taken full advantage of these two Champions Cup meetings to produce very good copies. Against the Chiefs, he took the English defense from behind for the first time, but the action did not come to an end because of a forward attack from Mallia. Shortly before the half-hour mark, Lebel flattened into the Exeter goal after a nice inside return. And then, two minutes into the second half, the original Gersois scored twice. A job well done.
Juan Cruz Mallia: 4.5/10
Within a three-quarter line which wandered, the Argentinian made a few errors. From the first minutes of play, he was sanctioned twice by the referee, notably for an act of anti-play. Mallia is also guilty on the Chiefs' second try with an unsuccessful rise. Small, unusual mistakes for this player.
