Four people of Sudanese nationality, including an infant, were killed in a road accident on Saturday near Vesoul, the prefecture learned, confirming information from Bleu Besançon.

The collision occurred on Saturday around 1:55 p.m., on national road 19 towards Lure, in the commune of Frotey-lès-Vesoul. The victims' car, an Audi, deviated from its trajectory for a reason still unknown, and hit a truck arriving opposite, registered in Poland and driven by a Belarusian, detailed the prefecture.

The little girl could not be saved by emergency services

The victims are a couple and their child, who had an address in Haute-Saône, and a passenger who resided in a home welcoming migrants in Vesoul. The woman was born in 1999, the two men in 1997 and 1988 respectively. The three adults died instantly, and the four-month-old girl could not be saved by emergency services.

Two other cars were damaged in the collision, but without serious injuries. According to our colleagues at Republican Eastit took more than an hour to extricate all the victims. Four other people were transported to Vesoul hospital. They are slightly injured.

Since the start of the year, 2,926 people have died on the roads in France according to Road Safety data, an increase of 2% compared to the same period last year.
