Match Report: Away loss to Real Valladolid CF (1-0)

Valencia CF faced Real Valladolid CF on Friday, December 13th, at 9 PM, at the Estadio José Zorrilla on Matchday 17 of the season. Still, in search of their first away victory, Valencia aimed to turn their fortunes around but ultimately fell to a narrow 0-1 defeat.

The game began slowly for Valencia CF, who attempted to control possession despite nervy moments at the back. While the visitors managed occasional forays into the opposition’s box, it was the hosts who struck first. In the 18th minute, Anuar Mohamed capitalized on a defensive mix-up to put Real Valladolid ahead.

Following the opener, the match settled into a cagier rhythm. Valencia struggled to carve out dangerous opportunities, while Valladolid sat back effectively, maintaining their defensive shape to preserve their slim lead. At halftime, the scoreline read 1-0 in favour of the hosts.

In an attempt to spark a comeback, Valencia manager Rubén Baraja made two substitutions at the break, introducing André Almeida and Yarek Gasiorowski in place of Jesús Vázquez and Fran Pérez. Valencia CF’s first shot on target came through César Tárrega, but his forceful rebound effort failed to trouble Real Valladolid CF goalkeeper Karl Hein.

Baraja continued to tweak his side, bringing on Rafa Mir for Javi Guerra at the hour mark, followed shortly by Sergi Canós replacing Dimitri Foulquier. The game’s dynamics shifted slightly when Real Valladolid CF were reduced to ten men after a double-flailing elbow incident involving César Tárrega.

Despite the numerical advantage, Valencia CF’s attempts to equalise fell short. They threw everything forward, but the Real Valladolid defence stood firm, and the hosts held on to their lead. The final whistle confirmed another disappointing away result for Valencia CF, who left the Estadio José Zorrilla empty-handed.
