João Pereira, Sporting’s coach, commented on the victory suffered over Boavista, in a match valid for the 13th round of the I League.

“To gain the confidence I had, no, it doesn’t help me, but it was important to get the three points, to get out of this negative phase. We suffered, we reacted again, it’s a fantastic job from these players who play from three to three, from four to four games.”

Does this victory taste like a little? “I am convinced by the attitude of the players, we were superior in everything, in ‘expected goals’, shots, possession. We had control of the game, apart from the last 20 minutes, and it is an important victory for our future.”

Francisco Trincão, Sporting player, analyzed the 3-2 victory against Boavista.

“I think we needed to, we could have done more and we shouldn’t have conceded goals. Still happy because what matters is the result, now. Giving confidence for what’s to come.”

Importance for the three points: “We have been growing throughout the games. Not in the last few games, but we have been assimilating Mister’s ideas more and more [João Pereira]. Today we were better, we shouldn’t suffer but we wanted to suffer.”

Differences between Amorim and João Pereira: “Each one has their own ideas. We are here to fulfill what the Mister asks of us. They end up being small positions. The 3+1, perhaps, now we play more with a midfielder jumping between the lines. But it ends up being the same , it has more to do with the players’ behavior, the attitude of recovering the ball, transitions, everything.”

Importance of three points: “It’s worth the same, each game has its own story. If we don’t win the next ones, this one is worth nothing.”
