Mira Rajput might be married to one of the country’s biggest stars, but she too, is a fangirl of someone. It has been nine years since Shahid Kapoor married Mira Rajput, and the actor recently reflected on their arranged marriage during an appearance on The Faye D’Souza Show. Shahid, who tied the knot with Mira in 2015 when she was just 21 years old, opened up about how the relationship has shaped his life and brought a sense of responsibility.
“Arranged marriage is the best thing to happen in my life. I have the best life partner in Mira… When we got married, I thought that I would have to protect her because she is this 20-year-old girl who’s just coming from Delhi. And this is a big bad world of movies and glamour, and everybody is so judgy,” Shahid shared during the conversation.
However, the actor revealed that Mira turned out to be more protective of him than he expected. “She has recognised that he (Shahid) is an actor, but I am more socially comfortable. She got more comfortable in the parties that I had been attending for years… even before I got comfortable in there. I was like, she’s already more comfortable than I was,” Shahid added.
Describing Mira as “a solid person” who is “self-assured and extremely intelligent,” Shahid also acknowledged her resilience. “She is very stubborn, which helps protect herself,” he remarked.
Shahid and Mira’s journey to marriage was not immediate. While Shahid liked her from their first meeting, it took Mira six months to agree to the union. Despite their 13-year age difference, the couple’s bond has only grown stronger over the years. They welcomed their daughter, Misha, in 2016 and their son, Zain, in 2018.
Shahid and Mira frequently share glimpses of their happy married life through social media posts and public appearances, setting couple goals for their fans.
Shahid Kapoor was last seen in the romantic comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha alongside Kriti Sanon.
