After a tight first round, the victory and the offensive bonus took shape at the end of the match for UBB.
A victory in suffering. Full of ambition in this Champions Cup, Union Bordeaux-Bègles won their duel against Ulster (40-19) on Saturday December 14. Facing a vengeful Irish team, playing in front of their home crowd after a heavy defeat in Toulouse on the first day (61-21), the Bordelais initially committed several mistakes and were punished with two yellow cards. Outnumbered, the French team was able to limit the damage, but returned to the locker room with five points to make up.
As in their first Champions Cup match against Leicester Tigers the previous week, victory took shape in the second half. Back at 15, UBB was able to impose its game. Damian Penaud allowed his team to take the advantage before delivering a decisive pass to Guido Petti. Louis Bielle-Biarrey and Ugo Boniface added a try each at the very end of the match, thus offering the offensive bonus to Bordeaux. This valuable victory allows UBB to temporarily take the lead in its group before Toulouse's match against Exeter on Sunday.
