Zapping Foot National Interview – The underside of amateur football, with Romain Molina
Mission accomplished for the locals. This Saturday, Red Star hosted Grenoble in this meeting between poorly ranked players, counting for the 16th day of Ligue 2. As a reminder, both teams are experiencing difficulties this season. The locals had not won in the championship since November 1, against Martigues (0-1). But their opponent of the day, Grenoble, was not in great shape either, the last victory of the Isérois in the championship dating back to October 18, against Metz (2-0). These are therefore two teams who needed points to quickly move away from the relegation zone.
Red Star finds form
At home, Grégory Poirier's players felt liberated, pushed by their audience, and it paid off, especially in the first half. From the 10th minute, striker Hacene Benali opened the scoring for Red Star and scored his 3rd goal of the season. With only one shot on target for Grenoble, the locals accelerated, appeared more dangerous and quickly took cover with a second goal scored in the 16th minute by Kemo Cissé, who scored his first goal of the season. In this first act totally dominated by the Red Star, the Grenoblois will break down again before the break, in the 36th minute. Frenchman Joachim Eickmayer brings the score to (3-0). It was therefore a first period perfectly mastered by the Red Star players.
Grenoble reacted timidly
Returning from the locker room, with a lead of 3 goals, Red Star slowed down slightly. And what was supposed to happen happened: Grenoble managed to reduce the score in the 54th minute thanks to Pape Meissa Ba, who scored his 10th goal of the season. But the Red Star will not be fooled a second time. Despite several changes on both sides, the score will not change. It is therefore the Audon club which wins at home (3-1), regains victory and joins Grenoble on equal points. Red Star therefore ends the year with a victory. The Isérois, for their part, will have to quickly re-mobilize before facing Cannes on December 21 during the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France.
