QUINCY (WGEM) – Temperatures will slowly rise above freezing from south to north through about midday. An Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until noon CST today for Scotland and Clark Counties in MO and Lee County in IA; this includes Memphis, Kahoka, Keokuk and Fort Madison. Travel is not advised in these areas until the warning expires as ice accumulations of up to four tenths of an inch are possible with winds gusting to 30 mph at times. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Hancock, McDonough and Schuyler Counties in IL through noon today as well. Expect up to one quarter of an inch of ice in the advisory area where caution is urged while traveling. Most of the freezing rain should transition to all rain from south to north by 11 AM to noon today with freezing temperatures hanging on in the extreme norther tier until just after midday.

Widespread rain will be across the region for most of the rest of the day once temperatures climb above freezing, allowing ice to melt in areas that saw a glaze. Most of the tri-states can expect to see rainfall amounts between 0.50″ and 2.00″ before rain exits later this evening. Expect daytime highs in the lower 40s. Patchy fog is possible later tonight with overnight lows in the upper 30s under cloudy skies. Sunday may feature some lingering fog early in the morning before giving way to mostly cloudy skies with warmer temps in the mid to upper 40s. Active weather returns Sunday night into early Monday morning with more showers possible. Temperatures look to start off warmer for the next work week with drier weather generally expected after showers exit Monday morning.
