While Grenoble won the top-of-the-table clash against Brive, Béziers and Biarritz are reducing their delay on the Corréziens in the Pro D2 rankings.
Grenoble is more than ever leader of Pro D2. In front of their audience, Nicolas Nadau's players had the last word against their runner-up Brive. A lively meeting which saw the Corréziens strike first thanks to Erwan Dridi after only ten minutes before suffering the Isère assaults. FCG was able to score no less than three tries in the space of seven minutes through Giorgi Pertaia, Eric Escande then Hanru Sirgel. Two penalties from Sam Davies surrounding this series allowed Grenoble to reach the break with a 19-point lead. Giorgi Javakhia took advantage of a numerical superiority to further add to the score but it was the Brivists who finished better. Two tries from Issam Hamel transformed by Curwin Bosch softened the score for the CAB. Grenoble wins by twelve lengths (34-22) and is now four points ahead of its victim of the evening in the Pro D2 ranking. A poor performance from Brive which does the business of Béziers and Biarritz. On the occasion of the reception of Montauban, the Biterrois offered themselves a great success (34-20) which allows them to come back to only one point of the Brivistes.
Biarritz pushes Nice, which is still losing ground
The Montalbanais thus conceded their third defeat in a row. The Biarrots, for their part, did not use their talent to overcome a pale Nice team. Three penalties signed by Thomas Dolhagaray in the first period then by Edgar Retière after returning from the locker room first allowed the BO to take control of the scoreboard. It was at the very end of the match that the Basques secured a short success with a try from Zach Kibirige. This victory (16-0) allows Biarritz to be only two points behind Brive. Nice, beaten for the eleventh time in fourteen matches, remains bottom and even sees its delay increasing. Indeed, Oyonnax offered itself an offensive festival against Soyaux-Angoulême (53-10) when Valence Romans came out against Mont-de-Marsan (28-23). Two teams which are now seven points ahead of Nice. Agen took advantage of Aurillac's reception to build confidence with a second consecutive success (43-17). Finally, Nevers did the same during a duel against Colomiers (23-15), which does not confirm the improvement seen last week with the victory against Provence Rugby.
