Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the state government was implementing various developmental policies to transform Maharashtra into the most developed state of India and it will be the first to become one-trillion dollar economy.
“We will be the first one-trillion dollar economy state of the country. In the last fiscal itself we successfully targeted and crossed half-trillion dollar benchmark,” Fadnavis said, while exuding confidence of surpassing the one-trillion dollar economy benchmark between 2028 and 2030. He was speaking at the inauguration of World Hindu Economic Forum (WHEF) in Mumbai.
Also in attendance were former Maharashtra minister and MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha, WHEF founder Swami Vidyanand, president Rajesh Sharma and keynote speaker and Padmashri T V Mohandas Pai besides WHEF joint secretary Shailesh Trivedi and other dignitaries from other countries.
Fadnavis further said that Mumbai was not only the financial capital of the country, but also set to become the fintech capital of India in the coming years. “The World Hindu Economic Forum has presented different concepts synergised with Indian culture based on the principles of development across various sectors. There is a fundamental difference between Western culture and our culture. In Western culture, only those who are capable may develop, but every person born in our culture has the right and privilege to develop themselves,” Fadnavis said.
He added that India is moving forward maintaining the fastest pace possible and has emerged as the third superpower of the world. Fadnavis spoke about the advisory committee formed to make the state the most developed region in the country. “The committee is studying various sectors where Maharashtra can progress and based on that developmental policies are being planned. Maharashtra is creating a complementary chain for development at the global level as well. For this, the state government is creating a logistics policy to be complemented by the fastest road networking infrastructure,” he said.
Fadnavis also cited the 2020 National Development Survey that has placed Maharashtra as being first in the country in terms of rejuvenated groundwater levels. He further noted that the forest cover in the state was increasing incrementally and said the state government was emphasising sustainable development through green energy and river interlinking projects.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has formulated a new policy to accelerate the development of the country. India successfully pulled over 25 crore people above the poverty line in only the last ten years. We had set a goal of turning India into a five trillion economy by 2030. We now believe that this goal will be achieved by 2028 itself,” he said.
