Chances of existence

The coincidences of existence meant that Jack Einstein did not accompany the Gi’s to Europe. “In April 1944, I was drafted into the United States Army, he remembered. During training, I got injured and this injury prevented me from becoming an infantryman. I became an instructor and showed soldiers how to maintain their weapons. I was making the last inspection of the assembly of the weapons before they were sent by ship to the front in Europe.”

Ammunition Inspector

Jack Einstein continued to look in the rearview mirror with tears in his eyes. He recalled leaving the Army on June 15, 1946, and returning to the Washington Navy Yard as a civilian employee. “Being a cataloging specialist, I became an ordnance inspector at the U.S. Navy Proving Grounds as an Air Reservist. In 1947, I worked as a civilian employee for the Army as a specialist of aviation.”

The largest helicopter in the world

The century-old alert is quite proud to say that its work has made it, in some way, part of the first generation of military combat helicopters. “I developed and improved the deviceshe continues. In 1947 I joined the Naval Air Reserves. Three years later, I was photographed with the largest helicopter in the world at the time, the Army H 16 Transport. In 1979, after 40 years of service to the United States Department of Defense and 25 years dedicated to the Air Force program, I left active life with regret.”

Jack Einstein married Helena in 1949 and had three children. Today, he still lives in his native region and, at the age of 100, he did not hesitate to cross the Atlantic, to remember the liberators who did not return to the country.
