Presidency dismisses Vicente Leal, one of his advisors who accepted solidarity funds to rebuild his home, due to “loss of trust”

Vicente Leal, one of the advisors to the Presidency of the Cabildo of La Palma, was dismissed from his position this Friday due to “loss of trust”. As confirmed El Time.esfrom the insular institution he would have been warned of the incompatibility of receiving funds from a solidarity fund to rebuild his home affected by the volcano, as he is a public worker and earns a salary that exceeds €55,000 per year.

Despite this notice, Vicente Leal agreed to be a beneficiary of an initiative called Macaronesian Stories, launched by a Canarian gin company, through which a campaign was marketed on the occasion of the third anniversary of the volcano with which to publicize the story of the former presidential advisor and raising funds.

In the plenary session held this Friday at the La Palma Town Hall, the PP spokesperson, Carlos Cabrera, asked Sergio Rodríguez, island president, about this dismissal. In this regard, Rodríguez only pointed out that “we can make mistakes that have consequences. “I have considered that it was necessary to make this decision and I am not going to report anything else because people deserve that respect.”

In the promotional video for this campaign they point out that “Vicente dedicated all his time and savings to build his house, and when the property was all ready, the volcano emerged right behind it. “Three years later, the man was still fighting alone to get his house back. In a moment of anguish, he recorded a message on YouTube seeking help. And that was when the Canarian company contacted him, and devised an initiative to help him,” he explains.

For this initiative, renowned Spanish artists such as Kira Miró and Caco Senante have been involved. “I came because I believe that Vicente is an example for everyone. If there were many more Vicentes, the world would be more beautiful,” says the actress. While Senante highlights that “he came because another canary called him.”

Precisely the news breaks on the day in which the media were summoned to echo this solidarity initiative, on the occasion of that third anniversary, in the middle of which the dismissal of Vicente Leal has been made public.
