The “Malcolm” series will return to Disney+ with the original cast and creator Linwood Boomer

SERIE – « Yes, no, maybe, I don’t know, can you repeat the question ? » If you read these lyrics with the song in your head, then this news will feel like a huge early Christmas present: Malcolm is back. The series will return for several episodes, with the original cast and even its creator Linwood Boomer.

It was Bryan Cranston, who plays Hal, Frankie Muniz (Malcolm) and Jane Kaczmarek (Loïs) who announced the news on social networks in small videos that were already in the right tone.

18 years after the series ended, four new episodes have been ordered on Disney+, announcement Variety this Friday, December 13. The broadcast date has not been revealed.

« What a delight to be able to scream at these kids again »

For now we only know that the story will take place years after the last episode since the official synopsis specifies: “Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into family chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party. »

On Instagram, Bryan Cranston shared several videos in a post. In the first, we can see him shouting Malcolm's name in an angry manner. Jane Kaczmarek then takes over, with her inimitable voice. “ It's okay, I heard you, I'm coming! » Frankie Muniz then says and the message “ They are back ».

In another video, the 35-year-old actor, also a racing driver, expresses his joy at returning to the role of Malcolm: “ I've waited 18 years for this, let's find out where Malcolm and his family are now “. For his part, Bryan Cranston says he's so excited about this project that he might have peed himself, but “ just a little bit ». « What a delight to be able to scream at these kids again » rejoices Jane Kaczmarek with a laugh. “ We are very excited to be able to meet again » she adds.

Time to bring together our “dysfunctional family” favorite

It remains to be seen whether the rest of the family will also be there: Dewey, Reese, Francis, Jamie and even clingy but loving co-worker Craig Feldspar.

“Malcolm literally changed the landscape of television comedy when it first aired twenty years ago, redefining what the genre could be”said Karey Burke, president of 20th Television, quoted by Variety.

According to her, it was the creator Linwood Boomer who “ssuggested that maybe it was time to reunite everyone's favorite dysfunctional family. And what a brilliant idea.
