[Source] – In her native Holland, the latest Dutch Playboy issue has already had to be reprinted despite only going on sale last Thursday.
Editor-in-chief Niek Stolker has admitted that this situation has “never happened” before.
He told the Dutch portal Ad: “In the eleven years that Pijper Media has been publishing our magazine, something like this has never happened.
Look at Holland/Netherland/The Dutch! They love them some speed skating and Playboy. Gotta give Joe Beune credit, this is one of the more impressive feats out there. I can’t say I’m up to date on my Dutch Playboy issues, but to be the first person to sell so many copies they have to reprint the magazine within a week deserves a round of applause. I need more numbers though. Just how many issues were sold to the point someone said, we gotta restock? In the age of the Internet and the fact that everything is, you know, free, you gotta hand it to someone who can move the needle like this. I guess they just love their speed skating in Holland?
What this story also did was bring me back in time. For anyone of a certain age we remember sneaking into closets to see the Playboys. We remember putting viruses on the family computer. Makes me wonder what would have sold out Playboy in those days? The Sable issue comes to mind right away for me. That’s the one if I close my eyes I remember the most.
