Mayotte will be placed on red alert from 10 p.m. this Friday evening, in anticipation of the passage of Cyclone Chido. 71 emergency accommodation centers were opened by the municipalities. Residents who do not live in a permanent house or live in a flood zone are invited to contact their town halls.
The red cyclone alert will be triggered at 10 p.m. this Friday, December 13 in Mayotte in response to the arrival of Cyclone Chido. “You need permanent accommodation, which is not on the edge of a ravine, river, sea, or in a flood zone.“, announces the prefecture. Anyone who does not meet these conditions is invited to contact their municipality to be sheltered in one of the 71 emergency accommodation centers deployed by town halls.
In the capital, a call center dedicated to the population is open from 6 p.m. and will be accessible 24 hours a day at the following number: 0269 6650 17
“This service will make it possible to answer questions, collect reports and support the population in dealing with the situation,” specifies the Mamoudzou town hall.
