- Niklas Hartweg comes in a strong ninth at the World Cup Sprint in Hochfilzen (ITA).
- The Swiss around team leader Lena Häcki-Gross are not getting up to speed.
- Johannes Thingnes Bö (NOR) won the men’s event and Franziska Preuss (GER) won the women’s event.
After a mixed start to the season in Kontiolahti, Niklas Hartweg showed a strong reaction at the 2nd World Cup stop in Hochfilzen. The Schwyzer remained flawless in the 10 km sprint and finished in 9th place. After the second shooting he was still in 6th place, but at the finish he lost 3 positions.
Jeremy Finello was also on course for the top 10. After the first shooting, the man from Geneva was still ahead of Hartweg and was also on course in the standing position. But then he made two more mistakes. He finally reached the finish in 19th place. Josha Burkhalter (2 shooting errors) finished the race in 39th place, Dajan Danuser (2) in 57th place.
Johannes Thingnes Bö with his first win of the season
At the front, Johannes Thingnes Bö won his first win of the season. Despite a mistake in the standing shooting, the Norwegian intercepted his compatriot Sturla Holm Lägreid and won with a lead of 4.2 seconds. The Frenchman Fabien Claude came third.
Häcki-Gross in 24th place
In Konthiolathi, Lena Häcki-Gross finished 9th last weekend, but things didn’t go so well for the Engelberger in Hochfilzen. After the first, flawless shooting, she was still on course for the top spot. With 2 errors in the second use with the rifle, she took herself out of the decision. In the end it was enough for 24th place.
Amy Baserga narrowly managed to score points (40th). With Aita Gasparin (47th), Elisa Gasparin (58th) and Susanna Meinen (77th), the other Swiss women remained without an exploit.
Preuss had to wait 2,154 days
Franziska Preuss was crowned winner of the 7.5 km in the Austrian Tyrol. The German relegated Sophie Chauveau (FRA/+7.7 s) and Karoline Offigstad Knotten (NOR/+10.1 s) to the other places.
For the 30-year-old Preuss it was only the second individual World Cup victory. Your first one is dated January 20, 2019, back then in the mass start at home in Ruhpolding. Thanks to the triumph after a dry spell of 2,154 days, she also takes over the yellow jersey of the overall leader.
