GAMES In the sixth match of the Europa League, RSC Anderlecht faces an important challenge with an away match against Slavia Prague. The Belgian club needs a good result to stay in the top eight of the league, which would mean direct qualification for the next round without playoffs. Coach David Hubert, however, must miss several key players. Jan Vertonghen, Thorgan Hazard, Mario Stroeykens, Killian Sardella, Majeed Ashimeru, Samuel Edozie, Tristan Degreef and Marco Kana are all injured or rehabbing. Foket, in turn, is on one yellow cardboard from a suspension day.
This forces Hubert to make some changes in the lineup, with Ludwig Augustinsson possibly being preferred to Moussa N’Diaye and Luis Vazquez being considered as Kasper Dolberg’s replacement. There is also a choice in midfield to be made from Leander Dendoncker, Theo Leoni, Mats Rits and Yari Verschaeren. It is possible that Dendoncker will be rested and start on the bench. There are also doubts about Amuzu’s readiness. The winger is injury prone and may be saved, with Angulo getting his chance on the flank.
Slavia Prague is also struggling with injuries and will have to miss Stanek, Vlcek, Vorlicky and Sevcik, but the Czechs can in principle start with their usual starting lineup. They are expected to do so, as Slavia desperately needs points in this competition and thus cannot afford an additional slip-up.
The kickoff of the match is scheduled for 9 p.m. at the Eden Arena, under the direction of referee Anastasios Papapetrou. No Purple and White fans will be allowed into the stadium (due to a UEFA sanction for irregularities against Real Sociedad). Nevertheless, several hundred Belgian supporters have descended on the Czech capital.
