What state of mind are you in a few hours before the Miss France election, this December 14, at Futuroscope in Poitiers (Vienna)?
Super excited. I'm looking forward to it. Very focused too. Right now, we're in the middle of rehearsals. I am really very motivated and I give everything to be at the top.
How did you digest your coronation in the Miss Bretagne election, in September, in Ploemeur (56)?
I didn't understand right away what that implied. The Miss Brittany election was not really different from Miss Finistère. It was when the Miss France adventure really began that I met all the other candidates, that I realized what was really happening.
Are you stressed at the thought of appearing in front of millions of viewers?
I didn't think about it until we were given the frame. That's when I realized that we will be facing 8 million viewers. But that doesn't scare me. I am happy to be able to represent my region and I will give everything so that Brittany wins the crown.
What image do you want to give of Brittany?
The image of a specific region. Who returns with ambitions, fourteen years after his last coronation. It's time for that crown to come home. I have been giving the best of myself since the beginning of the adventure and I will continue during the show. But I will need the support of all Bretons if I am ever among the fifteen finalists. We're going to do it together!
How did the misses' trip to Ivory Coast go?
It was my first trip to Africa. To be honest, it was my first trip outside Europe. It was very disorienting. The Ivorians are very warm and they made us feel very welcome. It was a great experience, very enriching. For a little over a week, we experienced unforgettable things that you will see in a report which will be broadcast on December 14. We were on cloud nine, in an incredible setting.
What were your relationships like with the other misses?
I was a little apprehensive about meeting them. But we got to know each other through the activities offered to us. We were in groups of ten. Links were created. I think it's a great promotion, with smiling, very funny and caring girls. I got along well with everyone, especially with Tiffany Haie, Miss Centre-Val-de-Loire, with whom I shared my room. This trip really gave me confidence.
How do you prepare psychologically to participate in Miss France?
We can't go there like that, without mental preparation. If you want to be in the Top 15, if you want to be elected, you have to want it. And I condition myself by telling myself tirelessly that I will succeed. It also involves showing that you want to succeed, to be noticed, by learning how to speak… You have to give everything during rehearsals.
Is the shift into the glittery world of show business and television difficult to understand?
This is obviously something very new for me as for the 29 other candidates. But we learn. And the more you practice, the more confidence you gain. I'm a pretty shy person to begin with. However, parading in a swimsuit in front of lots of people poses no problem for me; I'm comfortable. I discovered that it’s an environment that I like. I like being on stage.
This year, the theme of the show is dance. As a former basketball player, have you become an expert in twist, country and tango?
Not an expert, no (laughs). I played basketball but I also danced for several years. I wasn't starting from scratch. And then we have rehearsals every day. The training sessions are supervised by great coaches. It will be a very nice show.
So the next step is “Dancing with the Stars”?
(Laughs) Well why not?!
Like Laury Thilleman, the last Breton crowned Miss France, you are from Finistère. What characterizes the inhabitants of Pointe Bretagne?
The people of Finistère are simple but determined. We have a strong character. I'm not saying that the other candidates don't have them, but I won't let myself be walked on. I will show that I have my place, that the Bretons have their chance to win.
Do you have a message for your supporters from Pleyber-Christ (29) and the Morlaix region?
First of all, I thank the mayor of Pleyber-Christ for making a room available to all residents who wish to watch the show together (Anjela-Duval room, above the media library, Editor's note). I receive a lot of messages and it warms my heart. That motivates me even more. I thank them and I count on them.
What do you say to the detractors of Miss pageants, who consider them to be from another time?
I tell them they don't know anything about it. Miss France has lots of positive sides. It allows women in particular to gain self-confidence, to grow, to evolve. But also to express themselves on subjects that are important to them, to defend causes. It's a real chance.
What cause are you defending?
I am a volunteer within the La Vie en Rose BZH association, which fights against breast cancer. It also promotes healthy sports, particularly among adolescents.
