Heidenheim lost 3-1 away to Başakşehir in the 5th week of the UEFA Conference League.
Heidenheim Coach Frank Schmidt made a statement at the press conference held after the match.
Starting his speech by congratulating Başakşehir, Schmidt said, “They really deserved it. It was a painful result for us. We could not dominate the game from the beginning to the end. After 1-0, 2-0, the match was lost. We won the first 3 matches we played, but our performance in this match was “It wasn’t enough to win,” he said.
Regarding the 2 substitutions made in the first half of the match, Schmidt said, “I was going to make a change sooner or later. When the players lost the ball and could not take advantage of the opportunities, I made early changes. “I wanted to change the course of the game by using my modification rights,” he said.
“UNfortunately, defeat was saddening for me today”
Answering a question about whether there was a lack of communication between the players during the match, Schmidt said: “I observed that there was a lack of communication between the players during the game. When the match was 2-0, they also had problems among themselves. They must show this anger from beginning to end. We represent both the club and 600 fans here. “Unfortunately, today’s defeat was sad for me,” he said.
