After the great victory against Frankfurt this Thursday in the Europa League (3-2), Corentin Tolisso praised the performances of Rayan Cherki and Malick Fofana.

They tormented the defense of Eintracht Frankfurt. Starting against the German club this Thursday evening on the sixth day of the Europa League (3-2 victory), Rayan Cherki and Malick Fofana both delivered a very high level match. The French international hopeful scored a goal and provided two assists, including one for his Belgian teammate, who scored in the 50th minute.

“They are hard to take. They are confident,” underlined Corentin Tolisso after the match. “It's nice, they are in sparkling form. Good for us, it has to last. When there are substitutes, the starters are good. When the substitutes come in, they are good too. And I think that it lifts everyone up.”

High-level stats in the Europa League

Cherki and Fofana appear particularly comfortable on the European scene. In six days of the Europa League, Cherki has two goals and four assists, while Fofana has found the net four times.

Against Frankfurt, they allowed OL to take a big hit in the standings. “It’s a great operation,” said Corentin Tolisso. “I think that in the Europa League, we should have had more points when we see the match we have against Besiktas, where we have to win (1-0 defeat, 3rd day), when we see that we take this last-minute goal at Hoffenheim (2-2, 4th day)… The objective is there. Now we need to qualify in the top 8, that would prevent us from playing two play-off matches.”

With two days to go, the Lyonnais are fourth and assured of at least qualifying for the play-offs. They are also in a favorable position to finish in the top 8, synonymous with direct qualification to the round of 16.
