Alain Pompidou82 years old, the only son of the former President of the Republic Georges Pompidou and Claude Pompidou, has died, the Claude-Pompidou Foundation said this Thursday, December 12, 2024.

“Alain Pompidou has worked over all these years in line with the commitments of his mother Claude Pompidou towards the most vulnerable,” said the Foundation chaired by Claude Chirac.

Two mandates as MEPs

Alain Pompidou is the adopted son of Georges and Claude Pompidou, who welcomed him into their family in 1942.

Married twice and father of three children, the man who was adopted by the Pompidou couple at the age of three months in July 1942 had published in 2023 a book of memories, “It was Georges, my father” (Robert Laffont ).
