London’s Chelsea defeated the capital’s Astana in the match of the fifth round of the general stage of the Conference League, Tengri Sport reports. The game took place at the Central Stadium in Almaty.

Capital “Astana” became the only team from Kazakhstan that reached the main stage of the European Cup. The former champion of the country “Ordabasy”, as well as “Tobol” and “Aktobe” were unable to make it through the qualifications.
The Conference League is the third European Cup tournament after Champions League and the Europa League. From the 2024/2025 season it will be held under a new system, like other European cups. At the first stage, the teams are not divided into groups, but will play six matches (3 home, 3 away) with different teams. The playoff participants will be determined based on the results of the games.
