KU women cruise to 9-1 record via 30-point win over KC

The Kansas women’s basketball team won its fifth consecutive game — and second since returning home from the U.S. Virgin Islands with a Paradise Jam trophy — on Wednesday night, cruising past Kansas City, 79-49 at Allen Fieldhouse.

Four Jayhawks scored in double figures and the Jayhawks jumped all over the Roos early and never let them back in it.

The win moved Kansas to 9-1 on the season, heading into a big showdown with 9-2 Penn State on Sunday at Allen Fieldhouse in their final non-conference game of the 2024-25 season.

Tipoff for that one is set for 2 p.m., and KU coach Brandon Schneider said after Wednesday’s win that he wanted to make “a public plea” for a good turnout for the game against the Nittany Lions.

“Sunday’s game is really big. It’s really big,” Schneider said on Wednesday night. “You know, we’ve had tremendous crowd support to this point in the season. But I’m going to make kind of a public plea, you know, to our students and to our community. I’d love to see 6,000+ (fans) in here Sunday afternoon. Everybody that’s been coming, go bring a couple friends and let’s make this a really tough environment.”

Here’s a look back at some of Wednesday’s action.
