Real Madrid legend, Fabio Cannavaro, warned against the fierce competition in the Champions League, despite yesterday’s narrow victory over Atalanta in Bergamo.

Real Madrid finally achieved victory away from home against Atalanta with a score of 3-2, but the team’s performance with Carlo Ancelotti is not good, in addition to the players continuing to suffer injuries.

Cannavaro spoke about Real Madrid’s level in statements to the Italian newspaper Tuttosport, and said: “Of course they have the DNA of the Champions League.”

He continued: “But the new system for the tournament is different. Despite everything they have achieved in the past years, they have won six titles out of the last 10 tournaments, which is crazy, but they also faced seasons in which they did not even go beyond the round of 16, and perhaps the current season is one of them.”

Regarding Mbappe: “He is having difficulty adapting to the team, but this is what happened to some distinguished players in the past, such as David Beckham and Luis Figo. This happened before at Real Madrid.”

He continued: “I think this is the coach’s problem, that he cannot find the right position for the player in Real Madrid. Mbappe’s advantage is in searching for the ball and running with it, but he is not a clear striker. He is good at moving in spaces, unlike Bellingham, who is also suffering this season despite… “He was close to winning the Ballon d’Or.”

Regarding the new Club World Cup system: “Like the Champions League, everyone will understand it with time, but for me I consider it a big and interesting development. We have to see how the teams will perform. I myself want to participate in it. Everyone will want to win it.”

He concluded: “Everything is proportional to the expected profits. If you want to get more, you have to win and advance with the championship.”
