Thiago Motta warns the key for Juventus against Manchester City will be ‘the high press’ to then ‘force errors’ out of Pep Guardiola’s men.
It kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin at 20.00 GMT.
You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from this game, Milan-Crvena Zvezda and Benfica-Bologna on the Liveblog.
It has been a rough time for both clubs, slipping up domestically and in the Champions League, where they go into this round near the bottom on just eight points from five rounds.
Their last nine competitive games have seen one win, two draws and six defeats for City, plus they’ve got the Manchester derby coming up on Sunday.
Thiago Motta outlines Juventus plan
“We are up against a strong team that in recent years has done incredible things. With humility and respect that we have for all teams, we’ll have the same for them, but at the same time try to play to our best as a team so that we can compete,” Thiago Motta told Sky Sport Italia and Amazon Prime Video Italia.
“Manchester City have dominated possession for eight or nine years because they play together, manage to avoid counter-attacks. We must be aware of their strength, but also use those moments and maybe invite errors that we can make the most of. When we have the ball, we’ve got to play with a lot of quality.
“The key is that when we press high, we’ve got to really press. They have very quick players upfront, so we cannot leave them too much space behind us. We all need to defend and attack together.”
Juventus are still in the middle of an injury crisis, although they do have Dusan Vlahovic, Weston McKennie and Douglas Luiz back in the side.
“We are happy with the return of Vlahovic, he knows how to control his emotions, he is working well. We’ll need Dusan’s help, but the team must also help him to create those chances,” added Thiago Motta.
