The Champions League, besides being the most prestigious European competition, is a great way to make money. UEFA pays 18.6 million euros to each club just for participating. However, with every victory, with every important step that a team takes, the finances are happy. This is why, for several seasons now, Barça has tried to win every game, even if there is ‘nothing’ at stakeand to finish as high as possible in the table.
The Blaugrana team has greatly improved its financial situation. Although it has not yet reached the 1-1 rule, nor does it have the freedom to sign, the performance of the board in this aspect is very noticeable. In addition, every year they have looked for ways to continue strengthening the team so that it is competitive, while carrying out operations that bring health to the club’s economy. However, all the income that can come from the good performance of the players will be welcome and will make the task of the top management much easier.
Barça have already collected 27 million euros
In addition to the aforementioned fee just for participating in the Champions League, UEFA pays 2.1 million euros for each victory. FC Barcelona started their European campaign badly, with a defeat against Monaco in the opening match, which was the first defeat of the Hansi Flick era. However, the rest of the matches have subsequently been victories: against Young Boys (5-0); against Red Star (2-5), against Bayern (4-1) and, most recently, against Brest (3-0). This amounts to 8.4 million, which added to the initial 18.6, makes a total of 27 that are already in the Barça coffers.
On Wednesday night, FC Barcelona will face Borussia Dortmund away from home. If they manage to get the 3 points, they will take home 2.1 million more and move up to second place. In terms of finances alone, 6.3 million euros are still at stake for the three remaining matches. Another 11 million euros have already been secured, which would come if they qualify for the last 16. Finally, if they finish first in the table, the club would receive another 10 million, which could close the league phase with 54 million.
