Is being the one who assists without having to make a decision a pleasant position?
Élodie Poux: Very ! I did not have the power to say yes or no, but to give my opinion concerning all the participants. At certain moments in the show, I was even able to play the “support” card, even though I hadn’t necessarily liked the performance! (Laughs) But it's nice that everyone leaves with a positive and constructive opinion.
Were you amazed by certain performances?
There's a big difference between watching the show on TV and being close to the contestants. Almost all the acts amazed me, like this magician who makes objects appear and disappear… four meters from us! This is why nothing will ever replace live performance.
Finding yourself face to face with these candidates who confront themselves, often for the first time, with an audience, did it remind you of your beginnings?
Indeed, I have been in their shoes, and that is why I have a lot of empathy for them. They signed up for the show, took the train, perhaps came to Paris for the first time, took a day off, found a hotel, kept their loved ones informed… It's three minutes of performance for us, but the adventure of a lifetime for them.
