FC Zurich has pulled off a veritable transfer coup: winger Steven Zuber is about to return to Switzerland.

According to “Blick”, the former Hopper will sign with city rivals FCZ this time. The 33-year-old attacker has been out of AEK Athens for a few weeks and is no longer in the squad. On Wednesday his contract was terminated after almost three and a half years. So nothing stands in the way of a move to the Super League.

There were already rumors about Zuber moving to FCZ in the summer. Milos Malenovic, his long-time player advisor, is working there as sports director. The relationships are correspondingly excellent.

Between 2006 and 2013, Zuber played for the Grasshoppers before his long career abroad. His move to, of all places, his city rivals is certainly causing discussion. After Xherdan Shaqiri, he will be the second long-time Swiss national player to enrich the Super League within a few months.
