The president of the deputies of the National Rally (RN) would collect 38% of the voting intentions against Gabriel Attal as candidate of the center, according to an Ifop poll published this Wednesday, December 11. The gap would be less significant against Édouard Philippe.
Support for the motion of censure far from penalizing it, quite the contrary. Exactly one week after the overthrow of Michel Barnier, an Ifop-Fiducial poll for Le Figaro magazine places Marine Le Pen well ahead of voting intentions for the first round of the presidential election if it took place next Sunday.
She would thus win 38% of the votes of those questioned against 20% for Gabriel Attal if he represented the Macronist camp. Never has the president of the RN deputies been tested so high in a poll.
Édouard Philippe less easy to beat than Gabriel Attal
The gap would be less significant against Édouard Philippe who has already applied for 2027. The president of the RN deputies would collect 36% of the votes against 25% for the former Prime Minister.
The last wave of this poll, carried out last September, placed Marine Le Pen at 36% of the vote. On the left, Jean-Luc Mélenchon remains well ahead with 12% of voting intentions in the first round among those questioned compared to 5% for the socialist Olivier Faure.
Enough to greatly rejoice the deputies of the National Rally while Emmanuel Macron struggles to emerge from the political crisis. This figure also shows that far from being penalized by the fact of having been excluded from the consultations to find a new Prime Minister, Marine Le Pen appears more than ever as a serious recourse against the central bloc.
“Tomorrow's poll will set the Parisian record straight for Marinist France,” said MP Jean-Philippe Tanguy on X, on the eve of the publication of the IFOP study.
“Stronger than ever”
Same story for the group's spokesperson at the Assembly Alexandra Masson.
“A week ago, some announced the end of Marine Le Pen after her courageous choice to censor the government. Today, with 38% in the first round, she proves that she is stronger than ever,” judges the MP of the Alpes-Maritimes.
If these figures clearly show a dynamic in favor of the National Rally, they should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Dissolution next summer, coalition between the left and the macronie, new motion of censure which would target the next Prime Minister as Marine Le Pen has already suggested, possible resignation of Emmanuel Macron who has until now always brushed aside this hypothesis … The next few months should be filled with uncertainty on the political scene.
Marine Le Pen could also be declared ineligible immediately on March 31, at the end of her trial on the assistants of MEPs. In this case Jordan Bardella would collect 34% of the votes in the Ifop poll.
