The weather remains completely overcast and dark over a large northwest quarter, with some drizzle, but it is not too cold, with no frost thanks to this cloud cover. On the east facade, the sky is starting to clear with the return of frost between Limousin, Auvergne, Rhône-Alpes and Franche-Comté. The weather is gray, cool and rainy in Languedoc-Roussillon with light snow in the south of the Massif Central and the east of the Pyrenees.

Temperatures vary from -2 to 8°C from north to south, particularly in the center-east under clear skies allowing temperatures to drop through the radiation effect in these regions. We observe up to -10°C in certain valleys of the Jura.

This Afternoon

Little change over the northern half with these persistent clouds, denser towards the west, near the ocean. Clearings south of the reach Aquitaine with low clouds dissipating along the Garonne. The weather remains gray with scattered rain around the Gulf of Lion, changing to snow from 800 to 1000 m in the south of the Central massif and the east of the Pyrenees. The sky is gradually getting darker over Corsica and Paca where a few showers may occur late in the afternoon.

Temperatures are quite low in the northeast, between 4 and 5°C. We are still above 12 to 13°C in the south-east, particularly towards the Côte d’Azur and Corsica. We are generally 2 to 6°C below seasonal averages in the afternoon depending on the region.

Soirée

The sky is overcast over Roussillon with the onset of a few showers, light overall. This gives snow above 8000 to 1000 m. Elsewhere the weather is calm, increasingly clear in the east allowing temperatures to drop fairly quickly.

Further trend

The weather will continue to become drier with fewer clouds and mostly clear skies. However, these conditions will be conducive to frequent and increasingly widespread frosts this weekend. Friday being the expected coldest day of the week.
