MADRID, December 9. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Spanish footballers Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid) and Rodri Hernández (Manchester City), champions of Europe with the Spanish national team, have been included in the men’s FIFPRO World XI for the year. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmatí and Alexia Putellas, along with Real Madrid’s Olga Carmona, represent Spain in the women’s selection.
The ‘FIFPRO World XI Men’s’ and ‘FIFPRO World XI Women’s’ were unveiled today after over 28,000 professional footballers from 70 countries cast their votes for their teams of the year. Since its inception in 2005, this award remains the only global Football accolade decided solely by players.
In the men’s category, six Real Madrid players— including the retired Toni Kroos—and four from Manchester City make up the 2024 Men’s World XI, which notably features Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rüdiger, Ederson, and Rodri for the first time. The only player in the eleven not representing Real Madrid or City is Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, meaning Rodri and Carvajal provide the Spanish representation.
