The player: David triple decisive
Author of a remarkable performance Friday evening with Lille at the opening of this 14e day of Ligue 1, Jonathan David shined again during the victory of Les Dogues (3-1) against Brest.
The 24-year-old striker scored twice, including one from the penalty spot (7e s.p., 69e), and delivered an assist for Hakon Haraldsson (44e), allowing Lille to establish themselves in front of their audience. The Canadian at the same time registered his 100e et 101e goals in the Losc jersey.
The team: Lyon continues its good momentum
Clearly superior, OL mastered their match against Angers on Saturday evening (3-0), to hold on to fifth place in Ligue 1. Argentinian Nicolas Tagliafico opened the scoring with a smashed header (26e) before a Nice sequence from Cherki in the area (55e) and a magnificent coup de grace signed Georges Mikautadze (88e).
A good omen for the Lyonnais before a crucial match against Frankfurt on Thursday in the Europa League, and a trip to the Parc des Princes to challenge Paris SG next weekend. Sco remains the worst home team in the championship, with only four points taken in seven matches.
Performance: Monaco relaunches before Europe
After two defeats in a row, against Benfica in the Champions League (3-2) and in Marseille (2-1), ASM revived by beating Toulouse (2-0), thanks to goals from the Ivorian Wilfried Singo and Swiss Breel Embolo, who finally scored for the first time since October 27, only his third goal of the season.
It was a perfect evening for Adi Hütter, as the Austrian coach was able to manage playing time ahead of Wednesday's match against Arsenal. ASM returns to just five lengths behind the leader, PSG, who will come to the Rock on December 18 for an advanced match of the 16e day and a real Ligue 1 shock.
The number
11
-Traveling to Auxerre (0-0), Paris Saint-Germain had 24 shots on goal, scoring 11 shots, without managing to score. Donovan Léon thwarted all the attempts of a team which will have to relaunch on Tuesday in the Champions League in Salzburg (9 p.m.). PSG also set a sad record by failing to find the fault in the Burgundian defense.
The declaration: win with “eleven players less, that’s not insignificant”
At the head of a team decimated by injuries, Nice coach Franck Haise estimated that the victory against Le Havre (2-1) with “eleven players less, is not insignificant”.
“Those who were on the ground did good things. We needed to have a big match, to be united and positive. This was the case. The victory is deserved,” added the Aiglons coach before turning to the Europa League match against Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday in Belgium.
The match: OM takes back 2e place for Geoffroy-Guichard
In conclusion of the 14e day of Ligue 1 on Sunday evening, Olympique de Marseille easily won against AS Saint-Etienne (2-0) to regain the runners-up place from AS Monaco on goal difference.
Well started by Adrien Rabiot's opener, ideally served in one touch by Neal Maupay (17e), OM made the break on the hour mark thanks to Mason Greenwood (65e) and is five points behind Paris SG, leader.
