In a press release, the Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture announces a new day of taxi actions this Monday, December 9, in the department. It is specified, in this missive, that the demonstrations should “causing disruptions from the start of the morning, on the road network, particularly around the Lançon-de-Provence toll on the A7 motorway, in both directions of traffic.”
As a reminder, on Monday December 2, the movement of taxis caused nearly 30 kilometers of cumulative traffic jams, particularly in Marseille and around the Marseille city. A temporary blockage of the A50 in Marseille took place and the Lançon toll was also cut off to traffic for a certain time. Causing a strong hold in both directions of traffic.
Two main routes
Snail operations will take place during the morning, they should start around 7 a.m. And this in the following sectors:
– From Plan de Campagne, the convoy will join the A51 and A7 towards Lyon to reach the Lançon toll.
– From Valentine, the convoy will return to the A50 towards Marseille, then the L2 and the A7 towards the Lançon toll.
Here is the reason why the taxis are protesting: “We are demanding that the new agreement with Social Security be renegotiated, that it be more equitable, insists Yazid Ziani, president of the Union of Independent Taxis (Utif) in Marseille. An impossible effort is being asked of us. It’s our margin that will disappear. Today, we drive for 80 cents per kilometer. Tomorrow it will be 55 cents. I will have to lay off employees.”
