The relief of Anderlecht ‘returner’ Yari Verschaeren: ‘It was about time…’

The misfortune of one person (often) brings happiness to others. Lacking confidence and out of Anderlecht’s starting eleven for a few weeks, Yari Verschaeren took advantage of the unfortunate man’s injury Mario Stroeykens to find some game play this Sunday evening against Beerschot (2-1). Well located, it benefited from a surgical center of Thomas Foket to shoot deep and score his first goal of the season in the championship. Obviously, it was relief that predominated at the final whistle.

What went through my mind when I saw the nets shaking? I was very happy. It was time for me to score. The last few weeks haven’t been easy, so I was really happy to have scored, for myself and for the team. It allowed us to come back.” he confides, with a smile, at the Pro League microphone.

Enough to find a smile again, precisely, while some evil tongues already felt that it should be loaned: “I try not to pay too much attention to these things. The last few weeks have certainly been difficult but the most important thing for me is to continue to do my best. I have to stay mentally well . I will try to show myself every time I am given the opportunity.”

Now the hardest part remains to be done: confirm over time.
