Feyenoord won with some difficulty in the Premier League against bottom RKC Waalwijk: 2-3. Wingers Igor Paixão (one goal, one assist) and Anis Hadj Moussa (one goal) took the leading role.

The victory means Feyenoord remains undefeated in an away match for the 23rd time in all competitions. That is a club record. The series of 20 unbeaten away games in the Premier League is also a club record.

Santiago Gimenez was in the starting line-up at Feyenoord for the first time since recovering from his injury. He was accurate in both his appearances against Manchester City (3-3) and against Fortuna Sittard (1-1), but as a starter he did not succeed.

RKC surprisingly took the lead in Waalwijk. After a nice attack via Richonell Margaret, it was Oskar Zawada who pushed the ball past Timon Wellenreuther who had come out of his goal.

Hadj Moussa scores just after halftime

On a pass from Paixão, Dávid Hancko seemed to equalize, but it turned out to be an own goal by Yassin Oukili. RKC player Dario van den Buijs left the field in tears before halftime after twisting his knee.

Watch the reactions of Feyenoord coach Brian Priske, captain Quinten Timber, RKC coach Henk Fraser and RKC player Yassin Oukili below:

A few minutes after halftime, Feyenoord took the lead. Right winger Hadj Moussa underlined his good form with a dribble in from the right and the Algerian scored with his left: 1-2.

Final agreement for Paixão

The victory was not yet for Feyenoord. After substitute Denilho Cleonise had hit the post and Wellenreuther had saved from a bet by Reuven Niemeijer, Oukili headed in the 2-2 at the far post with some fortune.

Feyenoord quickly put things in order with a beautifully placed ball in Paixão’s corner. “Igor has a very high level,” said his coach Brian Priske afterwards. “We are very happy with our Brazilian friend.”

Feyenoord player Ibrahim Osman headed onto the crossbar and Zawada from RKC hit the post. Substitutes Mohamed Ihattaren and Michiel Kramer were also unable to prevent RKC from losing.
