This Saturday, December 7, the reopening ceremony of Notre-Dame de will take place in the evening. Nicoletta refused to sing and explained this to Buzz .

It is an unmissable event of the year, both for the French and for foreign tourists, curious to (re)discover this historic monument famous throughout the world. The reopening ceremony of Notre-Dame de Paris will take place this Saturday, December 7. President Emmanuel Macron will speak around 7:20 p.m., and the festivities will continue in the second part of the evening, with a concert broadcast from 9:30 p.m. by Télévisions. This event, which promises to be grandiose, marks the end of five years of work undertaken following the violent fire which, on April 15, 2019, ravaged the religious building. Many political figures and crowned heads have been invited to take part, but also artists, including Vianney and Clara Luciani… while others will be conspicuous by their absence.

This is the case of Nicoletta, who declined the invitation to sing. In a recent interview with Buzz TV, the 80-year-old singer explained that, in her eyes, the conditions were not met to guarantee a quality performance. Although the production sent her the technical sheets, she says she was not able to sing in good conditions, in particular due to the absence of a piano and the difficulties in capturing the sound correctly. A concert, initially planned live, was recorded the day before due to bad weather conditions. Nicoletta also argued that it was unthinkable for her to sing gospel at 8:30 a.m. after getting up at 4 a.m., and she rejected any playback. “What’s the point?”she added on this point. And to conclude with humor: “The good Lord will forgive me.”

Reopening of Notre-Dame: which artists will participate in the concert?

Like Vianney and Clara Luciani, many artists responded to the invitation to sing during this exceptional event presented by Stéphane Bern. Viewers will notably find Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, cellists very attached to this historic French monument, since they have both played there on various occasions. The voices of Garou, eternal Quasimodo, and Hiba Tawaji, the wife of Ibrahim Maalouf – who played Esmeralda in the musical Notre-Dame of Paris – will also sound. Among the other big names announced: Chinese pianist Lang Lang and South African opera singer Pretty Yende. An unforgettable evening, filled with emotion, is promised to us…
