Widgets on Samsung Galaxy smartphones are getting a makeover!

Samsung has rolled out a major overhaul of its interface with One UI 7.0, bringing new life to its iconic widgets. This update, expected in a stable version for 2025, promises to transform the user experience of Galaxy devices.

As noticed by early users of the One UI 7 beta, which Samsung has just started rolling out, the widgets are getting a makeover. The Voice Recorder application is one of the main beneficiaries of this redesign. Formerly confined to the lock screen, it now offers full widgets for the home screen, allowing faster and more intuitive access to recording functions.

Weather widgets have also been redesigned, offering more detailed climate information and more engaging graphics. The modernized design makes it easy to read complex weather data at a glance. Each widget appears to have been reworked to be more informative while maintaining a clean aesthetic that fits seamlessly into the user interface. For the lock screen widgets, we note the introduction of a new “Now bar”. Located at the bottom of the screen, it displays real-time information such as music playback, active routines, charging status, and notifications from essential Samsung apps.

What other changes does One UI 7 bring?

The new interface brings significant visual changes. App icons like Gallery, Phone, Contacts, and Camera now have more vibrant colorsabandoning the previous minimalism for a more expressive style.

One particularly nice feature is the folders on the home screen. These can now expand into four-cell mini-widgets, providing quick access to eight different applications. The ninth slot remains reserved for the complete opening of the file.

The quick settings panel is also undergoing a major transformation. Samsung takes a similar approach to iOS, separating notifications from quick settings. Swiping down from the top right corner displays quick settings, while a swipe from anywhere else reveals the notifications.

For users interested in customization, Samsung is introducing greater flexibility in the organization of the Quick Settings panel. The different sections can be rearranged while maintaining visual consistency, avoiding problems with unsightly empty spaces. The update is available through the One UI 7.0 beta program or the official update for compatible Galaxy devices.
