Before facing Olympique de Marseille on Sunday evening, AS Saint-Étienne must deal with a long list of injured or suspended players. Olivier Dall'Oglio gave a worrying assessment of its diminished squad during its pre-match press conference. The absences are piling up and the Greens will have to take up a real challenge against the Marseille leader.
An infirmary that is always full
For several weeks already, the residents of Stéphane have had to do without the services of Anthony Briançon et Thomas Monconduitwhose returns are slow to materialize. I'm Old is away from the field for several more months. Mickaël Nadéinjured in the knee, and Yvann Maçonrecently operated on, are also unavailable.
New injuries before OM
As if that wasn't enough, Dall'Oglio announced new packages for the Marseille reception. Ibrahim Wadji was injured in training and Aimen Moueffek took “a very big crutch” during the match in Rennes. Augustine Boakyealready injured, is also suspended as Matthew Cafaro. “We have a list that has grown a little longer. There was a problem this week with Ibrahima Wadji who was injured in training. […] Augustine Boakye is still injured, suspension for him and Mathieu Cafaro.”
Some glimmers of hope
In this very unfavorable context, Dall'Oglio can still count on the partial returns of Anthony Briançon et Thomas Monconduiteven if the latter “will need more time” according to the coach. Welcome reinforcements to try to create the feat against the impressive Marseille team.
