The Florida Lottery announced on Friday morning that Judith Carter won the $1 million prize from the Gold Rush Legacy scratch-off game.
Lottery officials said Carter bought her ticket from the Publix at 828 Southern Boulevard. With a 1-in-2.97 chance of winning a prize, Carter turned her $20 ticket into the $1 million prize.
The 57-year-old chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000, according to the news release. The Publix will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.
Her win comes after another Florida woman won $2 million after also buying her scratch-off ticket from a Publix grocery store.
