Once again, your annual listening statistics are parasitized by the tastes of your children. But where is the problem?

It was this summer. It was this back to school. It was this fall. At each family aperitif, accompanied or not by friends and their kids, the impromptu dancefloor moment, Thunderstruck of AC/DC for dad, Bonny of Prefab Sprout for mom, and for the only child, the little king who has flowed since his birth, six years ago, hectoliters of Bach, Plastikman and My Bloody Valentine, the only song that has apparently- it penetrated his heart thanks to the afternoons spent at the recreational center: Gently by Soolking (2022). And rather twice than once, sometimes even five or six times in a row, exclusively in this cover (the original version of the song by the Puerto Rican Elvis Crespo, pushed by the teacher friend in Madrid, was a flop ). Over the entire year which is ending, Soolking thus accounts for, by far, the greatest number of listenings on the streaming application in the name of dad – the child does not yet have the right to touch the vinyl turntable in the living room.

Inevitably, this is found in the personal statistics of the account, and in the “reports” now communicated at the end of the year by Spotify, Apple Music and co. as part of their dual enterprise of loyalty and promotion (Spotify Wrapped, Apple Music Replay …), statistics that some would consider sordidly disfigured. This insidious disruption through our little heads and their little fingers soaked in butter has even become a subject on the news.
