In 2025, Antoine de Maximy will celebrate the 20th anniversary of I will sleep at your house. It has been almost two decades since the PAF's most famous globetrotter has crisscrossed the planet according to his desires. From Japan to Australia, via Cambodia, Bolivia and Serbia, the friendly sixty-year-old has found his way almost everywhere.
When he is not trudging between the Rockies and the Andes, Antoine de Maximy returns to his home country. It is in the heart of Île-de-France where the host accustomed to makeshift accommodation resides. The magazine's journalists House side recently had the privilege and exclusivity of passing through the door of the man who usually invites himself into other people's homes.
Back from his trip, Antoine de Maximy sets down his bags on the outskirts of the capital, where he has taken up residence for several years. “Its home port is located in the Parisian suburbsIn a charming pavilion surrounded by a gardenwhich he completely restored”reveal our colleagues.
A recycling ace, the documentary director has furnished his comfortable home with “recycling only”, with a few exceptions, notably one
“cheesy bulb that creates light shows for 9 euros at Casto”. More surprisingly, there is neither a television nor curtains in his home. “The more we hide, the more likely we are to get in trouble”justifies the star of the small screen.
Our colleagues from House side went from surprise to surprise during the visit to Antoine de Maximy. So we should not be surprised to come up against a lawnmower in his kitchen. “It’s his place.”argues the man who cultivates with a certain fervor the art of “organized brothel”. Son secret ? “Leave everything in bulk. My father said when it's put away, it's lost. It’s true for me.”
A nature lover, Antoine de Maximy only owns
very few
green plants. “These are basically problems”he specifies. He prefers to spend time in
his bathroom equipped with a bathtub (his favorite room) or cook simple dishes in its large kitchen “completely open” where, he says, we can eat at 15 and make “candlelit parties”!”.
