We now know him mainly for his very successful film “A little something extra”, which evokes differences, disability, and questions normality.
In his own way, the comedian and actor Artus was also able to realize what it meant to not be within the norm, because of his few “extra” kilos.
In the columns of Stubbornto whom he recently gave a long interview, Artus reveals that he suffered from fatphobia when he arrived in Paris. Although he had managed to integrate into a rugby club at a young age, the situation changed once he reached the capital.
“It was when I came to Paris to do an internship at Cours Florent, which went very badly, that I felt a shift. There I only saw lanky guys who scanned me from top to bottom upon my arrival. I wanted to tell them: 'Well yes, I'm not like you, yes I have a gut…' There, you realize that look, and it hurts”, admits the 37-year-old actor.
-Artus, however, admits to having benefited from this excess weight, since his first major cinema project was based on the role of an obese person: “The first project that gave me access to cinema was The Bureau of Legends. For this series, if I hadn't weighed 130 kilos, I didn't have the role. The whole text is written around that. Even in 'A little thing in more', I make homophobic jokes… Grossophobic. I'm winnowing everyone so I have to go through it. Now I want to play something other than big roles”, he estimated.
Still in the columns of the magazine StubbornArtus revealed a little about his intimate life, revealing to be “straight curious” and having already had sexual experiences with men, particularly in libertine clubs. The comedian once again proves his open-mindedness, and will notably play Teddy, a character who represses his homosexuality, in the film The Pampa which will be released next January.
