French President Emmanuel Macron announced Thursday evening that he will not resign and that he will appoint in the coming days a new Prime Minister who will form a government of general interest, in an address to the Nation.
In a live message addressed to the French, the French president dismissed rumors of resignation, announcing that he would complete his mandate, stressing that there were still 30 months to act.
Attacking the far left and the far right, he declared that those who voted to bring down the government “only think about one thing, the presidential election, preparing for it, provoke it.”
Announcing a “government of general interest” made up of different sides, he also added that the new budget will not be presented until the beginning of next year.
“I will instruct him (the Prime Minister, editor’s note) to form a government of general interest representing all the political forces of an arc of government which can participate in it or, at the very least, which undertakes not to censor it “, he announced, proposing “new compromises”.
