In large cities, overweight dogs are becoming a real canine health phenomenon: depending on the breed and pathologies, some dogs may need several hours of exercise per day.
But cities are seriously lacking in spaces dedicated to dog exercise. Paris, with more than 300,000 dogs over 105 km², has a density of 2,857 doggies per km², making it the city with the highest density of dogs per square kilometer in the world. However, there are less than ten caniparks in Paris. And this is not without consequences on the health of urban dogs since 40%** of them are now overweight.
Dentsu and Generali, with the support of the SPA, have decided to tackle this animal public health problem head on by launching “Urban Doggy Fit”. An innovative sports training program, accessible to all dogs, which diverts street furniture (benches, poles, steps, lampposts, slopes, etc.) present in all cities in France.
Thanks to a series of video tutorials produced in collaboration with Nature de Chien, canine expert and the SPA care center, and a series of 3 posters, Generali is changing our view of the city by allowing each owner to make their city, the largest open-air gym for dogs.
Thus, the benches become fitness equipment for doing “cani-squat”, the steps become devices for doing “cani-squat”, etc. So many tutorials that target different parts of the dog's body and will help prevent overweight problems and preserve the health of animals.
A pop-up event with JCDECAUX transformed a bus shelter into a “sports hall” for dogs.
