Christmas magic with the “Christmas Story”: Dickens' classic in Hamm and Weyerbusch

Charles Dickens' “Christmas Carol” comes to life in the run-up to Christmas. Two concerts in Hamm and Weyerbusch invite you to experience the touching transformation of a misanthrope into a humanitarian. The events promise an atmospheric mix of reading and music.

Hamm/Weyerbusch. Charles Dickens' famous “Christmas Story” will be the focus of two concerts on December 15th at 4 p.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Joseph in Hamm and on January 1st at 4 p.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Joseph in Weyerbusch. Admission to both events is free. Participants include Thorsten M. Schmehr, church musician from the Westerwald-Altenkirchen pastoral care area, the soprano Manuela Meyer and the lecturer Ute Hammer.

Visitors can expect a reading of excerpts from the well-known story, accompanied by the classical singer Manuela Meyer. She interprets Christmas Carols, including “Joy to the World”, as well as works by John Rutter. Traditional German-language Christmas carols will also be heard. Organist Schmehr provides musical accompaniment on the piano and organ.

“It's a wonderful, one-hour program, suitable for adults and families with children,” explains the church musician. (PM)
