The candidate for Matignon for the New Popular Front calls on Emmanuel Macron, who must appoint Michel Barnier's successor, to “recognize the result of the early legislative elections” in July.
Following the censorship of the Barnier government, Lucie Castets, candidate in Matignon for the New Popular Front last summer, considered this Thursday, December 5, “a change of political course” necessary.
“I tell the President of the Republic that we must recognize the result of the elections,” she insisted on the sidelines of a trip to Tours (Indre-et-Loire) devoted to public services.
Before adding: “I invite him to start from these observations to designate a government from the left, from the New Popular Front”.
“I don’t make it a question of anyone”
Designated by the left-wing alliance of the New Popular Front as candidate for Matignon the day after the legislative elections in July, Lucie Castets assured this time “not to make it a question of person”.
“I’m not making it a personal matter, but I think it’s very important to be able to implement measures that will really change people’s lives and propose a different political course,” she continued. .
-Since the censorship of the Barnier government this Wednesday, the leader of the LFI deputies Mathilde Panot has already confirmed that her group would censor any Prime Minister who is not from the New Popular Front, including Bernard Cazeneuve.
Lucie Castets, however, said she “does not have the impression that the President of the Republic is really in a logic of construction with the left-wing forces of this country”.
Asked about a possible resignation of Emmanuel Macron, she affirmed that “it is a decision that is up to him”. “But what is certain is that other great figures in French history before him would probably have chosen this option.”
