Seven years after his show EmmanuelManu Payet is back on stage! In this new one-man show soberly titled Emmanuel 2the talented comedian reveals himself like never before, addressing with self-deprecation the “daron” that he has become. A unique show, captured from Reunion Island, to discover this Thursday, December 5 on Canal+. Presentation.
You may have known him in the early 2000s, during his first steps as a radio host on the airwaves of NRJotherwise on stage as a comedian from 2007, or in the cinema, starring in a good number of French comedies. Comedian, actor and even director, Manu Payet has done it all, or almost. After three shows, including the excellent Emmanuel (2017), the Réunionnais returns to the forefront with Emmanuel 2. One of the major themes of this new one-man show? Age, a sometimes thorny subject, approached with humor and realism by the actor.
Emmanuel 2: Manu Payet has become a ''boomer dad''
Time spares no one, not even Manu Payet. At 48, the comedian has evolved and intends to describe these changes to us with derision. Becoming, as he himself lucidly asserts, a true ''papa boomer'', Manu Payet is indeed starting to become… old. Certain things that once did not matter to the actor are now irritating to him. On stage, the comedian explains to his audience:
''I'm becoming a boomer, a daron. I criticize my friends' children who I find speak badly, and I find that all my friends' children speak badly. They annoy me!”
Another example, showing according to him that he has indeed aged well:
''I've gotten old, I tell you! I like rum and raisin ice cream!''
-
Now wearing progressive lenses, almost inevitable when you approach fifty, the ''boomer'' tells how he gradually became ''the annoying uncle'', making embarrassing jokes to his nephews or his friends' children.
Handling self-deprecation to perfection, the native of Saint-Denis (Reunion) mixes humor and lucidity, retracing all the major stages leading to the moment when he ''heard to become old''. A show that will make all generations laugh, even the youngest, captured last November at the Téat Plein Air in Saint-Gilles les Bains, on his native island of Reunion. If it can be discovered this evening exclusively on the encrypted channel, let us specify that Manu Payet will defend his one-man show Emmanuel 2 throughout France until the end of 2025.
