The second sailor forced to retire from this Vendée Globe after Maxime Sorel, Louis Burton (Bureau Vallée) spoke this Thursday, December 5, filled with emotion, to explain the reasons which pushed him to give up.

“It is not with joy that I am making this video. » It was with a heavy heart that Louis Burton spoke this Thursday, December 5, a few hours after announcing his abandonment of the Vendée Globe. The adopted Malouin had to give up during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, due to serious mechanical damage.

“It really is the biggest disappointment. It was while being very bruised that I made the decision during the night to abandon the Vendée Globe. Having already gone around the Antarctic twice, I know that it is suicidal to leave with a boat that does not have the capacity for structural tolerance. I don't want to take the risk of losing the boat, of putting myself in danger beyond the acceptable level. I think we've passed it there.”testifies the 39-year-old skipper.
