This year, the Festival of Lights celebrates its 25th anniversary with a program that exceeds expectations. We had the chance to discover in preview a large part of the 30 luminous works proposed in Lyon, and the privilege of admiring them in the calm of a test evening, far from the hustle and bustle of the crowd. At the heart of this new edition, an essential theme: eco-responsibility. Many installations invite reflection on the preservation of nature, and more than half of the works were designed with minimal use of materials to reduce waste and pollution, proving that creativity can also be sustainable.
Here are our favorites from this new edition!
Favorite n°1: Jacobins act 4 (Place des Jacobins)
The artist Patrice Warrener returns for the fourth time to the Festival of Lights with a new luminous work, this time and for the second time, he sublimates the Jacobins fountain. Thanks to its Chromolite process, it reveals unsuspected details of this emblematic monument. THE vibrant colors and the finely crafted designs are almost reminiscent of Sicilian tableware, giving the impression that the fountain is coming to life. The soothing music that accompanies this creation invites you to linger, observe every detail and rediscover the beauty of this place. Already well attended during this test evening, this installation promises to be one of the great successes of this edition.

Favorite #2: Flux (Place des Célestins)
Imagined by the Scale collectiveFlux is an installation that mixes light and music in a hypnotic way. A hundred LED barsfixed on a spiral metal frame, rotate on themselves and move in real time to the rhythm of music captivating. Here, open your eyes and ears: it’s really the music that gives all its strength to the installation. The result? An immersive show that captures attention and transports you.

Favorite #3: I Love Lyon (Place Bellecour)
Jacques Rival takes us back to childhood with his work I Love Lyon. For this edition, the artist once again transforms the emblematic statue of the Sun King into a huge snow globe. Already created in 2006 and 2007, this installation still manages to amaze! In the evening, the bell lights up red and blue(a subtle nod to our local football team?) with the basilica of Fourvière in the background, the whole creates a picture which still appeals Place Bellecour one of the essentials of publishing. In addition, restoration points are set up at the back of the work, so it's worth the detour!
